Sustainability and healthcare are inherently connected. Every sustainability challenge in healthcare involves balancing patient safety with potential ecological benefits. Hospital Klina in Brasschaat, Belgium, has found this balance in both water safety and sustainability through the implementation of HW Bifipro®.

Temperature reduction following HW Bifipro® implementation

Over the past three years, AZ Klina has not detected elevated legionella levels in their water samples. This success allowed the hospital to gradually lower its hot water temperature. Luc Knaepkens, Hospital Hygienist, explains: "After each negative test result, we reduced our hot water temperature by 3 degrees. Over the entire period, we have reduced it to 45 degrees with consistently negative legionella results. This has had a significant impact on CO2 emissions, and on the other hand, it has led to huge energy savings."
